ITS Conference Limerick 3 October 2014

October 03 2014

MVMS attended the ITS Ireland conference in Limerick. The theme for this year’s conference was Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems.

This emerging technology enables vehicles and surrounding infrastructure to exchange information about the location, speed and direction of other road users also using C-ITS. It is expected that C-ITS will significantly improve road safety and reduce congestion; in particular through collision avoidance, improved traffic management and aiding decision making by drivers.

MVMS found this year’s theme extremely relevant to their unique temporary ITS solution for road work zones. The system produces real-time journey information, queue warning and incident detection for improved journey times and increased motorist and worker safety. Using mobile solar variable message signs, mobile solar trailer mounted traffic sensors and CCTV, the ITS solution provides real-time travel information including queue warning and alternatives routes via the JamLogic ITS traffic management software. Messages are updated instantaneously and real-time e-alerts are sent to PC, tablet or mobile phone.

Our Operations Manager Simon McAteer was rumoured to be in attendance. Can you spot him?
